Oscar Gala: Handicapping the 2014 Oscar Races with Ty Burr

Just in time for the Academy Awards Ceremony on March 2, acclaimed Boston Globe film critic Ty Burr will headline an extraordinary Springfield College evening, featuring the screening of an Oscar live action short, as well as commentary, visuals, and thoughts on films and stars in contention for golden statues.
Burr has been a film critic at the Globe since 2002, and often appears on local and national media programs including WBUR’s Here and Now and WGBH’s Greater Boston. He is an adjunct professor for the film and television department at Boston University, and he previously served as the chief video critic at Entertainment Weekly. Burr has written numerous books, including GodsLike Us: On Movie Stardom and Modern Fame and The Best Old Movies for Families: A Guide to Watching Together.
A question and answer session will follow Burr’s presentation. Refreshments will be served, and there will be a book signing at the event.
