A Home Run for Bunny

William Blizard Gallery

Visual Arts Center, Second Floor, Blake Hall

Based on the book A Home Run for Bunny, this exhibition features illustrations that tell the story of a Springfield, Mass., baseball team in 1934, and its star and only African-American player, Bunny Taliaferro. The book, written by Springfield College School of Human Services Professor Richard Andersen and illustrated by highly acclaimed artist Gerald Purnell, provides a look into local history and an inspirational story of loyalty, equality, and respect.

Gallery reception: Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, noon-4 p.m.
